Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is run by Government, so with the efforts of Government BSNL is deciding to provide the satellite phone services for all Indian citizens. It is expected that the service will start in two years that can work at any placeof the country and can’t be disrupt like mobile services during natural calamities.

BSNL Satellite Phone Service will launch in India for everyone within 2 Years.

BSNL Chairman and Managing Director AnupamShrivastava told that, they sent the request to International Maritime Organisation. But due to some general procedures it will be time taking to complete the process. In almost 2 years, we will be in a situation to provide satellite phones service for citizens in a stepwise manner,”

Satellite phones has a feature of working in any locality of the country, even during journey in flights and ships, because they are running on the signals coming directly from the satellites placed about on the height of 35,700km from the earth.

BSNL will provide satellite phone service trough INMARSAT service, initially the service is offered to Government agencies personnel and after thatthey will expand the serviceto citizens in a stepwise manner as mentioned above. INMARSAT has 14 satellites through which it will provide the service to the areas having no network. In the first phase the service will be given to the agencies handling disasters, state police, railways, Border Security Force and other government agencies.
