Most of us estimate the passage of time via the digital clocks on our phones. However, watching the classic hourglass is always more exciting that helps you view the physical shift of particles in it.Marc Newson, Apple designer, has collaborated with wristwatchsite Hodinkeein order to introduce an extremely costly hourglass. Called the hand-blown Marc Newson Hourglass, this unique hourglass is more rounded compared to most of the hourglasses you can see around.
It requires almost 10 minutes to empty it to the other end and you need to spend $12,000 to get your hands on this unique piece.
According to Hodinkee:
“The Hourglass is a multi-sensory experience that cannot be communicated in words.”
What makes this hourglass so expensive and extraordinary is its 1,249,996 “nanoballs” made from stainless steel with a copper coating instead of common sand. It weighs in at 3.3 pounds (1.5 kilograms) and comes with its own leather coaster as well as a set of white gloves that protect it from your fingerprints.
