The only VCR manufacturer is planning to quit its production.

In 1976 Victor Company started manufacturing JVCHR-3300. This was the world’s first VCR, which was based on VHS format. This was the beginning of Home Video and influenced the VCR market for two decades. After this, the arrival of VCD or DVD affected its presence. The widespread use of VCD and DVD was the reason of extinction of VHS. This vanished the VCR market completely from the world.

The only VCR manufacturer is planning to quit its production.

The scenario is currently only one company is making VCR in this world. Japan’s Funai Electric is the only company that is manufacturing VCR. As per company the VCR production is halted due to people’s lack of interest in the product and shortage of spare parts available to manufacture the VCR.

This company’s VCR are sold in China under Sayno brand. This brand is also sold in South Africa. Last year company has sold 7.5 lac VCR but in the past it has sold 1.5 crore VCR in one year. Initially each VCR cost $50,000.
