Kenichiro Hibi, the Sony India Managing Director, stated recently that Sony has finalized its plans to launch the next generation of Xperia smartphones, and one can expect a completely new design from this new line of devices. To put this in other words, the OmniBalance design that was being used since 2013 with Xperia Z will finally meet its end.

So, Hibi must know what he is talking about: Sony is moving towards 18:9 smartphones featuring completely bezel-less designs. This will be done through the release of new series of devices, which will belong to the next generation of phones by Sony.

So far, in this new scheme of bezel-less phones, Sony has deliberately ignored the mid-range as well as low-end phones and has focused entirely on the premium edition of the same. Still this is very important to introduced a new design, especially when the competitors have moved from old to the latest designs featuring bezel-less displays.
