The Federal Budget is under consideration and every business is eyeing the subsidies and taxes government will levy for year 2015-2016. Similarly the mobile phone industry has been under tax supervision by the government as well.

Mobile Prices Might Soar As Government Plans to Levy More Tax on Mobile Imports.

The tax bracket for imported mobile phones will be now from PKR. 300 to PKR. 1000. The prime reason for doubling the tax is to increase the revenue generation through mobile industry. The tax on low-end handset is increased from PKR. 150 to PKR. 300, mid-ranger is now taxed PKR. 250 to PKR. 500 and the high-end smartphones will carry PKR. 500 to PKR. 1000.

It is noteworthy that increase in tax will result in hike in mobile phone prices in Pakistan.
