Mobile Broadband expanding at high rate, reached 15.8 million in Pakistan.

According to the recent stats revealed by PTA, Mobile broadband usage in Pakistan has reached 15.7million which translates into a penetration rate of 13 percent. The increase in August is the one million new connection added by the 3G and 4G networks from previous month. These figures fall sharply few months back after biometric verification.

After the recovery from this slash the telecom industry increased by 2.5 million ending at 119million. The teledensity now stood at 62.5%.

In mobile broadband package, only Telenor sustained the biometric aftermath and showed consistent growth. Telenor added 395,000 subscribers to its 3G network during August making its lead evident with 5 million 3G users. Zong was left behind with a slight margin. It added 350, 000 users and grew by only up to 3.5 million subscriptions. Mobilink added only 74,000 to its 3G customer base and made up to 4 million 3G subscribers. Warid sold almost 18000 LTE connection and made around 140, 000 broadband subscriptions.

However the market position of all 5 telecos remained same. Mobilink is leading the market with 34.6 million subscriptions at the end of August. While Telenor came second in Pakistan with 32.7 million users. Zong, Ufone and Warid were ranked third, fourth and fifth with 23.1 million, 18.3 million and 10.2 million users, respectively.
