JioPhone Effect: Idea Cellular Planning to Launch its Phone at INR 2,500.

The Idea Cellular, India’s 3rd largest telecom operator, is planning to work with the handset industry and launching soon its own mobile phone at reasonable price in order to contend with Reliance Jio’s JioPhone.

The Managing Director of Idea Cellular Limited, Himanshu Kapania said that we are functioning on the practical solution to reduce cost of handsets by working with the handset industry. By working with them we will be able to reduce the bill of material, so that the difference of the announced price of Jio feature phone versus our smartphone can be brought down to moderate levels.

He further said that the perfect price level for a phone will be INR 2,500. At the same time, the company is also planning to launch its VoLTE feature on its 4G LTE network with the next starting year 2018. The major reason of offering free calls to its customers by Mukesh Ambani’s owned Reliance Jio is that it offers the VoLTE networks in the country.
