No matter how hard you try to not to remove junk from Pixel, it will bother you with notifications of low memory. It’s a hard task to remove unnecessary apps and videos and decide what says and what goes, but Google is making it easier with its Smart storage app.

You can let Smart Storage will keep on cleaning background apps that are redundant and also sweep you phone storage clear space. This can be done both ways.

In order to activate Smart Storage, click Settings app, then go to Storage > Manage Storage. This is where you can activate or deactivate Smart Storage. When working automatically, Smart Storage will only delete photos and videos previously backed up to Google Photos.

However, you won’t lose the content, once there is enough storage, you can still download the content and save it later.

You can also fix the time frame till which the videos and photos will remain deleted, for instance 30, 60, or 90 days.
