Chinese company Gionee’s recent smartphone dubbed Elfie E8 has been launched in India with much fanfare. Now the company plans for Made-In-India smartphone that is expected to launch in the country near the magnificent festival of Diwali, which is just a month away.

The company officially announced last month that it will soon collaborate with Foxconn and Dixon to manufacture the handsets for Indian market in India. The Foxconn production facility is likely to emphasize on the F and P series smartphones, while the Dixon production unit will be focusing on the feature phones and other smartphones.

“By March, 2016 we expect to assemble all phones that will be sold in India at two outsourced locations in the country,” commented Arvind R Vohra, Gionee’s India CEO and MD. “So, we will be selling all ‘Made in India’ phones in India. We will have first such phone before Diwali.”

Moreover, Vohra also unleashed that the company is prepping to enter the wearables market, which is likely to happen in the next Mobile World Conference (MWC) in February.
