Previous key combinations won’t work as Apple has changed the button combinations for iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus to force restart a dead phone.

Till iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, user holds the lock or side button along with home button together and waits for the Apple logo to display. But if the user does the same with iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus he would learn that this would trigger emergency SOS. It also depends on the user phone settings as a loud alarm might play or call goes to emergency services.

So beware and check your phone settings first as a user if you have purchased the new device. For that reason Apple has mentioned the button sequence though not the combination to restart an iPhone. Do read the guide of the phone carefully and follow the steps.

Step 1: Volume Up Button: Press and release quickly.

Step 2: Volume Down Button: Press and release quickly.

Step3: Side / Power Button: Press and hold it till Apple logo appears.
