Recently, a study was conducted, which shows despite of the fact that Twitter and Facebook connect people, but inadvertently, people feel alone when they interact too much via Social Media.

It is evident that every Social Media site has its pros and cons. While Psychologists believe, that even if they are inherently design to increase connectedness among users but technically it evokes loneliness among people.

Use of Social Media Psychologically isolates people.

The Study states the more people use this platform, the more they become isolated in societal matters, thus feeling isolation. Those who spend over two hours daily are likely to hit by this isolation.

Lead scientist Professor Brian Primack, from the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine, said:

“This is an important issue to study. Because mental health problems and social isolation are at epidemic levels among young adults. We are inherently social creatures, but modern life tends to compartmentalize us instead of bringing us together. While it may seem that social media presents opportunities to fill that social void, I think this study suggests that it may not be the solution people were hoping for.”

The survey studied 1787 adults from the age of 19 to 32. The measurement of their behavior against 11 social media Platform was tested.

The studies show some people feel alone as face-to-face interaction is reducing. Others feel isolation if they are uninvited in an event which is posted on Social media.
