In Nougat, the new notification of WhatsApp does not work properly, that is why WhatsApp has ignored new guideline for Nougat Notification system.

In previous update, after replying via direct notification system, the messages of users disappear.
WhatsApp has made correction in all these elements in its beta version. Now everyone using Nougat and WhatsApp beta version will get all messages via notification. When users will reply to message they can also see their message.
If user get too many messages, they can easily see in bundle of messages. The users can unbundle the messages and reply each person one by one.
Hopefully, this feature will soon incorporate in the final version of WhatsApp. Currently, you can find it in beta version 2.17.13.
