Report: Samsung will reduce the production of OLED due to lesser demand for iPhone X

  MPC Team

Poor demand for iPhone X is badly affecting the OLED display business of Samsung, due to which the company is already searching for new customers. Meanwhile, the company has already decided to reduce the output of OLED panels by 20 million units.

According to Nikkei report, the actual target by Samsung was to produce about 45-50 million OLED displays for iPhone X. Moreover, this was only for the first quarter of this year. So, we can expect further cutbacks in the second and third quarters too.

This is the reason that Samsung is already looking forward to the Chinese brands for selling its OLED panels.

Samsung had made an investment of $12.6 billion for enhancing the production capacity of its OLED panels, as it expected that the iPhone X production will be booming, which was not the case unfortunately. This has dearly caused a slump into the OLED business of Samsung.
