Nokia 3310 (2017) review

  shahid nazir

The Nokia 3310 is launched again this year in MWC 2017. It was launched in MWC 2017 in Spain, Barcelona. It has a sport color screen instead of a monochrome display of old.  Its price is £50 and its good for those who are still looking for a simple phone and does not want to enter in the smartphone lifestyle.

Nokia 3310 (2017) review

 Design and build

This new version is similar to the old nokia 3310 but is not the exact replica of it. Its buttons are still in the same shape and the contrast border is still present.

It is made of nice and low quality plastic to get the feel of the older nokia 3310 of that time. Every button is cheap but this 2017 version comes in bright neon-esque colors which makes a good change.

Display

It has a 2.4-inch screen with a 240 x320 resolution screen which is a good upgrade over the older 1.5 inch monochrome screen. It has a bright lit screen which makes easy to read and navigate

 Performance

It has no WiFi, 4G and no playstore and offcourse no Facebook and WhatsApp.  But it has old SMS messaging and an old style phonebook where you can store your friend’s numbers.  There is old snake game this time on a color display screen.

This time it has a little bit change. In this version we have to control a animated amphibian which collects red apples from various points on the screen. In my opinion they would have kept it as same as the original and it would have been much better like that.

Battery and connectivity

It has a good battery and on standby you can leave it for a month and you can talk 24 hours on it without charging.  It also has a 3.5mm headphone jack to listen to the MP3 songs. Its battery is 1200mAh and now you can use your USB charger too without going into the hustle of looking for the old charger.

Camera

It has a normal 2MP camera and no selfie camera. This camera has no flash and no zoom. It’s a simple old camera.  The quality is not that bad

Conclusion

If you are an old fan of Nokia 3310 then you would definitely purchase it as it’s a low priced and pleasing set with a good battery life. Those people who are not familiar with this set will be thinking that why this classic phone is launched in 2017 when we are getting phones like iphone 7 and Samsung Galaxy S8.
