Before the upgrade it’s good idea to make sure that you have backed up your data in your iPhone. This is because if you do something wrong with your device so atleast you should have your data saved.  This new update includes the conversion of iPhone current file system to the new one. It will optimize the solid state storage, strong encryption, better file stamping and many other storage improvements.

How to back up your iPhone before installing iOS 10.3

You can back up your iPhone to your PC via iTunes or you can back up to the cloud via iCloud. I prefer the PC back up option because it is faster and it’s a permanent one.  Here are the following steps

Back up to iTunes

Step 1: Connect your iPhone to your computer via a USB sync cable.

Step 2: Depending on your previous setup, this may launch iTunes and start the sync process which includes making a backup.  If your iPhone isn’t set to auto-sync, continue on to next step.

Step 3:  Now if you see a “Trust This Computer message” go ahead and agree to it. In iTunes, click the phone icon which is near the upper-left corner to bring up the Summary screen for your iPhone. Now in the Backups section click the Back Up Now button. Depending on how long it’s been since your last backup this might take 30 seconds or more time. You are done.

Back up to iCloud

Step 1: First make sure that your iPhone is connected to a Wi-Fi network.

Step 2: Tap the Settings icon and then then tap iCloud.

Step 3: Tap Backup and then toggle iCloud Backup on. Finally, tap Back Up Now. This may happen quickly or it may take few hours depending on how much time has passed since your last backup.

Step 4: Verify that the backup finished successfully by tapping Settings > iCloud > Storage >

Manage Storage, then selecting your iPhone. You should see details of the backup which includes time and size.

Now you can install iOS 10 with full confidence and without worrying for losing the data and be on the safe side.
