Thanks to the digital assistants as they have made lives of users a lot easier. User simply by talking to his device can command for different tasks. New devices are emerging every now and then making it easy to control every bit of your home, for instance, from lightening up, heating up to entertainment.

Apple Siri, Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant have smart speakers and the mobile devices have built-in AI. By the way, Microsoft Cortana is also in the market but it’s less of a popular.

Apple Siri was launched in iOS5 in 2011 along with the launch of iPhone 4S. Google Now was launched the year but it changed to Google Assistant in Spring of 2016. Most established of all the digital assistants is Amazon Alexa, it was released in November 2014.

Speakers: Amazon Echo smart speaker comes to mind when we think of voice control technology. Similar to Amazon Echo is Google Home products i.e. Google Home Mini and Google Home Max. They are designed to compete the market competitor Amazon Echo Dot. Apple Siri tech could be seen in iPad, Mac, Apple TV and iPhone but the company is planning to launch sole HomePod smart speaker.

Also, Amazon and Google are sharing their voice technologies with 3rd party manufacturers i.e. Panasonic, Sonos, Harmon Kardon and JBL.

Music Play: Google and Amazon Echo devices lack in precision as they are not audiophile products. Amazon Echo has one advantage in the competition which is, far field microphone arrays meaning 7 microphones are there in Amazon Echo. Google Home doesn’t have that many microphones. It also outclasses Siri because it does use iPhone and iPad built-in microphones instead of having its own.

Smart Home: Not just music, digital assistants could be used for automation of home. Again in this, Amazon is taking the lead but Apple’s HomeKit has started gathering the attraction. One example of using the voice control for home is dimming lights, adjusting room temperature and more.
