AT&T acquiring Iusacell Mexican Carrier in US$2.5 Billion and reaching out 400 million user base

AT&T is going to acquire Mexican carrier LusaCell in US$2.5 billion. This is the first ever purchase of any telecom company  of North America. With this purchase AT&T total subscriber base would be 400 million. This acquisition will facilitate all AT&T subscribers to travel to Mexico or Mexico travel to USA without losing service or incurring huge roaming charges. Lusa Cell is the  largest telecom company of Mexico which covers 90% population of Mexican .It will be great advantage for AT&T over its competitor Sprint & Verizon.

AT&T has not specified the time frame for closing out the deal but looking for approvals from the telecom regulator authority. It is also not clear will Lusacell will be rebranded as AT&T or continue its name like T-mobile.
