Apple Knew Beforehand That iPhone 6 and 6 Plus Would Bend

A new case has revealed that Apple had prior knowledge that iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were more likely to bend than previous Apple phone models. This news was initially bought up as a result of Apple’s internal documents which were recently revealed by Judge Lucy Koh as a part of the ongoing suit against Apple.

According to these revealed documents, Apple’s internal tests did show that iPhone 6 was 3.3 times more likely to bend than iPhone 5S while 6 Plus was 7.2 times more likely to bend than the previous models.

It was back in 2014, that the controversy known as ‘bendgate’ took the world by storm when users discovered that Apple’s iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were prone to bend. Apple responded by going as far as to rigorously test the said products for any bending issues.

Soon afterwards, iPhone 6 units began to have a touch problem where the touchscreen would fail due to a flaw in the touch-controller chips on the motherboard. Apple claimed that this problem would occur with the phone if it was dropped too many times.

The company then made internal changes to the design of both iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models, adding extra epoxy to strengthen the area underneath the chip in May 2016. But the company still refused to acknowledge the bending problem with the two smartphone models.
