Analysis: Essential has so far sold only 5,000 smartphones!

At the time of its announcement, Essential Phone sought attention from a considerable number of people. The main reason for that was Essential Phone was a startup by Andy Rubin, who is often known as the father of Android. It was a $1.2 billion startup, which is a huge amount anyway.

However, since its release on September 9, Baystreet Research estimates suggest that only 5,000 units of Essential Phone have so far been sold.

This does not turn out to be a huge number anyway. Even when OnePlus did not have a trouble-free launch, it still got 50,000 sales for OnePlus One right after its release. The reason might also be the price, as Essential is selling the phone for over $700, which costs as much as a high-end Note 8 or iPhone 8 Plus.

So, Essential team has to rework its strategy and come up with a different plan that will help it drive more sales in a speedy manner in the future. This current pace will certainly see the company shutting down its venture a couple months from now!
