According to the analytics given by Canalys, the fastest-growing category in the technology in 2018 will be the smart speakers. The sales for smart speakers will even outnumber the sales of augmented reality (AR), wearables, and virtual reality (VR) devices, which are considered as three of the technologies that were previously said to be the rapidly maturing products in smartphone industry and market.

According to the analysts, the total sales of smart speakers are estimated to exceed 56.3 million units in 2018. On the other hand, Amazon and Google are also expected to lead in this category with their respective Alexa and Google Home speakers.

Moreover, Apple is also expected to released its own HomePod speaker, which is Siri-powered, and which will be out in early 2018. Similarly, the report estimates that US is going to be the biggest market for these smart speakers, where more than 38.4 million units are going to be sold in this year with total of 68% of the sales.
